Active Injury Management Service (AIMS)
Why AIMS: This program has been developed to provide an integrated medical and allied health
treatment option for injured workers or motorists, leveraging the personal injury subject matter
expertise of Phoenix Occupational Medicine’s doctors and Guardian Exercise Rehabilitation’s allied
health team. The program is based on the understanding that early and appropriate care and
guidance along with early and appropriate return to work and life are key foundations for recovery
success.
Who is appropriate for this service offering: This offering is appropriate for those who have been
injured at work or via a motor vehicle accident and would benefit from an industry specialised
intervention to maximise their recovery. This may be appropriate for those with an acute injury or for
those who’s recovery has plateaued. This service is not appropriate for stand-alone opinions or
second opinions but is designed to be a comprehensive treatment option.
Specialised Second Opinion Service (SSOS)
Why SSOS: This service is used to gain a better understanding of a participant’s overall recovery
status at a set point in time and to define a rehabilitation pathway to assist them to continue in their
recovery.
Who is appropriate for this service offering: This service is appropriate when existing treatment
options are no longer effective in aiding the participant progress their recovery, or there is general
uncertainty about next steps in rehabilitation and return to work/life, and a second opinion can
provide valuable insight that will assist in developing an informed recovery strategy moving forward.
It may also serve as a pathway for those who would benefit from participation in our AIMS or a
functional restoration program with Guardian Exercise Rehabilitations allied health team. This service
is not appropriate to address specific queries that fall outside of the information included in the key
outcomes for this service.
