Guardian Exercise Rehabilitation welcomes CEO Robert Pierce

Guardian Exercise Rehabilitation and Custodian Work Assist founder John McDonald has announced our new CEO, Robert Pierce will commence in the role on 31 October 2022.

A Chartered Accountant, Robert Pierce comes to us from Australian IP specialist firm Wrays, where he led the firm through a period of national growth and expansion over the past five years.  Prior to stepping into the CEO role at Wrays, Robert also served as their CFO for five years.

John is excited about the changes ahead for the company, saying,

“Rob brings a wealth of experience in guiding a business through the change and transformation that growth brings.  Over the past 22 years we’ve been steadily growing across the country, and I am so excited about our new journey under Rob’s leadership and seeing the next stages of Guardian Exercise Rehabilitation and Custodian Work Assist unfold.

The CEO role is critical to our success and I am 100% sure Rob is the right person to lead us.  We undertook an extensive national search for our next leader – spanning the past six months, in fact – and have enjoyed getting to know Rob and allowing him to get to know us.”

Robert is also eager to embrace the opportunities the new role presents,

“I really can’t wait to join the Guardian Exercise Rehabilitation family at such an exciting time for the organisation and in a sector which truly does impact the quality of life of injured or ill workers. With such a talented and committed national team, I’m looking forward to helping even more Australians recover and see an increase in their quality of life.

With such a strong focus on empowerment and providing people with the right information and tools to take control of their recovery, I am honoured to be able to play a part in increasing the number of people we can help.”

Robert will work closely with Guardian Exercise Rehabilitation’s Strategic Leadership Group and the wider leadership team on continued national growth which includes not only an expansion of services, but also diversification and the addition of new service offerings for those on a rehabilitation journey.

Former CEO, Damien Amsuss stepped out of the CEO role in April this year, joining the company’s Strategic Leadership Group in an advisory role.  John McDonald has been acting in the CEO role while the search for our new CEO was conducted.

Robert is a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and a member of CPA Australia and will be based at the Perth head office located in Subiaco, Western Australia.
